Emmanuel School, Exeter ~ About

About

Brief HistoryFormed in 1994 by a group of 5 families, Emmanuel School opened with 25 students.

Having reached full capacity during the following seven years, the school went through a period of decline in pupil numbers.  Now in 2009 the school again has the number of pupils it originally started with and is confident of continued increase .

Although founded as a parent cooperative, the school is now a charitable trust with three trustees and a school governing body.   It is currently administered under the leadership of the head teacher Diana Bastone and the original Principal John Parker.  The school retains a strong parental involvement in its practical day to day running, and without which the school could not function.

The core aim of Emmanuel school is to assist parents in raising their children, by providing an education who’s curriculum is based on the Word of God and taught from the perspective of a Christian world-view.

‘Train a child in the way he should go will and when he is old, he will not turn from it’ (Proverbs 22:6).  In a family-like environment, pupils are free to develop their own unique identity. Equal emphasis is placed upon their academic, social and spiritual development.

Our desire for our young people is:

  • to come to know God, His character, His heart and His Word.
  • to know Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
  • to be people of prayer and faith with compassionate hearts and serving spirits.
  • to develop a sense of community awareness, to be morally responsible and self discipined.
  • to discover the career path that best suits their personality, giftings and abilities.
